The Scottish Terrier, commonly known as the Scottie, is one of the five breeds of terrier that originated in Scotland. The Scottish Terrier is a small, compact, short-legged, sturdily-built terrier with a thick-set body, erect ears and tail, small bright almond-shaped eyes, a hard wiry outer fur coat with a soft dense undercoat. Scottie dogs are usually black, dark brown or sometimes wheaten in colour. Scotties are territorial, alert, quick moving and feisty, perhaps even more so than other terrier breeds. The breed is known to be independent and self-assured, playful, intelligent, loving and stubborn.
